Curtis Black, 85, Shawano, died Tuesday morning following a heart
attack. Born in Shawano Oct. 2, 1888 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John C.
Black, he was president and director of the Shawano National Bank when
it opened Jan. 4, 1935. He served as president of the bank until 1968
when he became chairman of the board. Mr. Black was a member of the
Rotary Club of Shawano, the Masonic Lodge of Shawano and the First
United Presbyterian Church of Shawano. In November, 1969, he was the
recipient of the Shawano Distinguished Citizens Award. On April 3,
1961, he married Isabelle Eich in Shawano.
Survivors are his wife; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, Marshfield.
One brother, Charles preceded him in death.
Friends may call at First United Presbyterian Church, Shawano, from 4
to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday. Masonic Service 8 p.m.
Thursday. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Donald
Owen officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. A memorial fund
has been established for the First United Presbyterian Church and
the Shawano Community Hospital. Karth-Kopitzke Funeral Home, Shawano is
in charge of all arrangements.
