Florence Magee Liebich
She was an adopted daughter and not a Magee by blood. The story of her
adoption is as follows: Her parents saw an ad in the Chicago Tribune
telling of an infant girl for adoption. Her father corresponded with
the party and after they came to an agreement as to the terms of
adoption, her parents then traveled to Chicago to pick her up and bring
her home. She states that it must have taken some time to get the
newspaper all the way to Two Rivers and then her father had to
correspond several letters back and forth. She recalls the letters
stating that if she was of good health and all, that they were willing
and capable to care for her. (Information from “John Franklin Magee: A
Gentle Man and a Gentleman” by Sara Lea Bleeker).
