Following is a letter from Lucille Graves Wheaton about Henry Magee: How Henry David Magee family got to Provident City, Texas
Grandpa Magee’s brother Robert lived in Provident City, Texas. So
Grandpa Magee went down there. He lived there for seven years, before
moving his family. Mom and Aunt Bessie were girls then. Mom was 8 years
and Bessie 10 years. They didn’t go to school much. Only to the 4th
grade for Mom. Grandpa Magee got hurt working in a shake mill. Hurt
his back. He got rheumatism and was bed fast for five years. They lived
in Texas seven years before moving to Fremont, Nebraska. Thought the
change of climate would help Grandpa. But it didn’t. They lived in
Fremont, Nebraska 1 1/2 years, then they moved to Hot Springs, South
Dakota to a drier climate. Lived in Hot Springs, S. Dakota for awhile.
Then got a place not too far from Oral, South Dakota where he died Aug.
6, 1921. He was taken back to Wisconsin to be buried.

Grandma Magee (Lydia Borden) Mom’s mother, lost her mother when 8 years
old. She was married at the age of 15, in Wisconsin. This is some of the history I got from Mom. She said her mother never talked much about her family. From Lucille Graves Wheaton. Her mother was Kate Magee Graves. Her grandfather was Henry David Magee.
