Irene Magee, 99, former resident of Town of Waukechon, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Birth Hill Healthcare Center, Shawano. She was born Feb. 13, 1902, in Wittenberg, to the late Charles and Carolyn (Koeppen) Thompson. The family moved to Gillett where her father worked on the railroad. She married Hugh Blichfeldt Magee in November 1921, in Michigan. Hugh was a cheesemaker until their factory burned. Irene and Hugh lived on a farm in Angelica where Hugh was a livestock dealer. They were members of Angelica United Methodist Church. The couple moved to the Shawano area in 1947. Hugh was an avid harness horse trainer and driver. He preceded her in death July 12, 1987. Irene enjoyed her grandchildren, her flower garden and going to the horse races.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Elwood and Elva Magee, Shawano; and Curtis and Orriene Magee, Bonduel; one daughter, Joyce Scheider, Shawano; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Thompson, Gillett; and Carl and Lloyd Thompson, both of Milwaukee; also one sister, Evelyn (George) Nichols, Minocqua; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Thompson and Grace Magee.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Scheider; three brothers; one sister; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home, Bonduel, with the Rev. Lewis Lebakken officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Angelica. Friends may call at Wendt Funeral Home, Bonduel, on Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to the time of service.
