James E. Koeller
James E. Koeller, 76, Howard, formerly of
Green Bay, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at home. He was born
Sept. 27, 1927, in Oshkosh to the late Eveline and Ralph
Koeller, Sr. He married Ruth Lutsey Bleick on June 21, 1952.
She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 1998. Jim married Mary
Ann Squires Tiry on June 24, 2000. He felt blessed and always
thanked God for having found true love twice.
Jim graduated from Green Bay East High
School and served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. during World War
II. He owned and operated Koeller's Phillips 66 Service and
Koeller's Mobile Propane Service for 35 years. After four years
of retirement Jim was asked to help establish and to manage the
post office inside M&I Bank on Military Ave. (formerly
known as Valley Bank) where he worked until his second
retirement five years later in 1990.
Jim was an active member of St. Paul's
United Methodist Church. As a business owner, he was active in
the West Side Businessmen's Association. Jim was a member of
Washington Masonic Lodge #21, Daylite Masonic Lodge #360, York
and Scottish Rite Bodies, Low Twelve Club, Beja Shrine Center,
Green Bay Shrine Club, Beja Supercycle and was a life member of
VFW Post #2037. He was on the Fort Howard Cemetery Board of
Directors for 20 years serving as President for 13 years.
Planning and building the mausoleum there was his most
cherished accomplishment.
Jim will be sadly missed by his wife,
Mary Ann; his children, Richard and Janet Koeller; Nancy and
Allen Karr; his grandchildren, Christi (Lee) Ambrosius, Lisa
Koeller (fiance, Dan Puyleart), all of Howard; D.J. Koeller
(special friend, Lindsey Bixby), Chicago; a sister, Betty Ann
(Allan) Ross; a brother-in-law, Ken (Ceil) Lutsey; his
sisters-in-law, Lillian Lutsey and Henrietta Pritchard, all of
Green Bay; Jani (Dave) Hill, Crystal Lake, Ill.; a
brother-in-law, Bob (Nancy) Squires; and a sister-in-law, Chris
Squires, all of Manawa. Jim is also survived by nephews, nieces
and many great friends. Jim was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Ruth; a brother, Ralph Koeller Jr.; his
brothers-in-law, Thomas Lutsey, Robert Lutsey and Bill Squires.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home,
1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (today). There will
be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call
at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 341 Wilson St., from 11
a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday. The Funeral Service will be held at
12 noon Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Raymond Kotwicki
officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
Memorial funds for St. Paul's United
Methodist Church, Shrine Childrens' Hospitals, and the Beja
Shrine Trust have been established.
Jim's family would like to extend a very
special thank you to the staffs of San Luis Medical and
Rehabilitation Center, Woodside Home Health Agency and
especially to Unity Hospice for all of the care and concern for
Jim and his family.
