From the Shawano County paper, Dec. 22, 1925: Maynard Black elected captain
The Chicago Tribune reported last Sunday that Maynard Black, son of
Dave Black, of this city was elected captain of the football team of
Carroll College. This is a great honor to be conferred on Maynard
because of the fact that Carroll College won last fall the championship
of the “Little Five.” Maynard was also elected as the all-star tackle.
In addition to the letters that were awarded to the members of the
championship team each member was also awarded a gold football.
Carroll looks ahead to the football season of 1926 under the
captainship of Black with greater prospects than ever since only two
members of the team will be lost by graduation.
