From the Shawano County Journal, May 7, 1942: Funeral held today for Mrs. R. Magee
Rosallie Dousman Brooks Magee, one of the city’s well known and loved
citizens, passed away at the Brooks home in this city on Tuesday
afternoon. She had been in poor health for the past three years and
became suddenly ill two weeks ago. Following Mr.
Magee’s death, twenty-five years ago, Mrs. Magee went to New York where
she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Boese. She returned eight
years ago, when her daughter moved to Clintonville. Later she came here
to keep house for her brother, Charles Brooks.
Mrs. Magee was born at Keshena June 13, 1866, and was the daughter of
Ogden Brooks and Miranda Stone. She spent her youth in Shawano County. Her
husband was the son of Chas. Magee, a member of another prominent
pioneer family. He was a brother of Mrs. Wm. Gibbs of this city and
Mrs. Henry Seering of Campbellsport. Survivors
are one daughter Sybil, Mrs. Wm. Boese, Clintonville, and one son
George, of California. Another child died many years ago. She also
leaves five grandchildren, and her brother, Charles Brooks, of this
city. Funeral services will be conducted at the
Schweers Funeral Home this afternoon (Thursday) at 2:30. The Rev.
Wandschneider of the Methodist church will officiate and interment
will take place at Woodlawn cemetery. The pallbearers will be Curt
Black, Chas. Black, Athol Kuckuk, Ray Rossow, Dud Anderson and Adrian Gansen.
