From the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, Monday, Feb. 20, 1928:

The Old Settlers club, one of the oldest social organizations in this city, was entertained last week by Mrs. Charles Lyon, special celebration being given in honor of the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Sallie Haskell. Mrs. Haskell is one of the charter members of the club and is the daughter of George Lutsey, who came to this locality in the early forties. Her brother, owner and proprietor of the Elwood hotel in this city, was the first white child born in this community.

From the Oshkosh Northwestern, Monday, April 10, 1939:

Oldest Native of New London Dies
Services were held this afternoon at the Cline-Learman funeral home for Mrs. Sarah Haskell, 83, who died Friday evening following a 10-day illness. Services were in charge of the Rev. F.S. Dayton, rector of St. John’s Episcopal church and the Order of Eastern Star. Burial was in Floral Hill cemetery.
Sarah Lutsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Lutsey, was born in this city Feb. 13, 1856 and lived here all of her life. Her marriage to Dr. Dwight Haskell took place here March 13, 1878. Dr. Haskell died in 1901. Mrs. Haskell was the oldest living person born in this city.
Surviving are two sons, Bert Haskell, New London and Dr. George Haskell, Minocqua; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
